Srinagar, Nov 14 (KNO): With autumn season at its peak, the picturesque trails of Marchoi, Diskal, and Mohan Marg in Kashmir are reporting heavy footfall of adventure lovers.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Marchoi and Mohanmarg in Ganderbal and Diskal in Budgam, which are an abode of various plant species and wildlife, have emerged as the go-to destinations for trekkers.

These destinations have become famous autumn and winter trekking destinations since the trek to the famous greater lakes concludes by mid-October every year.

Muhammad Arif, founder of Cliffhangers India, said they currently are holding autumn treks to these three places for adventure lovers looking to immerse themselves in the breath-taking beauty of the changing season.

“In October, trekking to greater lakes is closed. During Autumn when leaves change colour from green to yellow and crimson red, places including Marchoi, Diskal, and Mohanmarg are in huge demand. It is because of the landscape and nature that captivates any adventure lover to explore them,” he said.

Marchoi, Arif said, offers a lot of adventure to the trekkers. “Marchoi has a unique passage, and hikers may see a variety of bird species along the way. Marchoi is also home to hangul, langur, and brown bear. It’s a fishing heaven as well. We have been holding commercial tours to Marchoi,” he said.

Similarly, Diskal and Moanmarg for its untouched beauty too are being preferred by the tourists, Arif said.

“Trekking to Diskal and Mohanmarg are also in good demand. Our clients book their trips online and we make every arrangement for their safe and adventure-filled journey to these untouched places,” Arif said.

He said upper Dachigam also has been a popular autumn and winter trek for adventure lovers.

Arif said from equipment to logistics, they manage every facility for the tourists to enjoy their journey.

“We take care of equipment, insurance and medical assistance apart from food for our clients. The beauty of these places is unmatched and trekking is already gaining popularity in Kashmir,” he said.

A trekker said that scores of tourists including foreigners prefer to trek to these two places.

“High-end tourists visit the valley during late autumn. They love to explore new places in Kashmir. They visit these two places to explore wildlife and participate in angling activities. During the last one week, we accompanied scores of tourists to Dachigam,” said Barkat Ahmad, a trekker—(KNO)
